My granddaughter is six so she’s in that place where her teeth are falling out of her head. Her smile is a random bunch of holes and it’s amazing. I look forward to the next phase, where her two front teeth are too big for her face for a while.
My 6 y/o is also in that phase! Just lost the first one after an agonizing few days of swinging it fully perpendicular to her other teeth. So dramatic!
My 7yo lost his first tooth 2 weeks ago just before his birthday - I'd forgotten the sheer drama of this time, managing first grade with teeth falling out all over the place! It's wild
Just registered my daughter (our one and only) for kinder this coming August! She’s crushing preK, is a leader and little social butterfly and is SO ready. I’m proud of her but also hoping her new big kid independence doesn’t mean I lose my best cuddle buddy when she moves up!
A little ridiculous for a milestone, maybe, but my 3yo kid spent 30 minutes in the company of someone not directly related to him today. As I expected, he was totally fine and I was having heart palpitations.
My youngest just got accepted into pre-school and my oldest will be starting kindergarten in the fall, which means they will both be in school in the morning at the same time. I will be all by myself (for 2.5 hrs)! Excited about having some quiet time (which I have been dreaming about for a while now), but also a little scared to have reached this point. Eek!
Enjoy your free time. It’s hard not to fill it with errands and chores, but really try to use at least some of that time for things you love that you’ve been missing.
My second starts high school next year! I don’t think a kid starting high school ever loses its shock value! It’s one of those moments where you just can’t believe it’s here already. I imagine it will be just as shock inducing when my youngest starts high school. I think probably because it’s one of those moments where you are hit with the reality of your child growing up. You realize you’ve only got four more guaranteed years with them in your home. After that all bets are off.
My oldest (he’s 15) just had his first kiss! And he will be old enough to get a driving permit next month (they have to be 15.5 in our state). My second (she’s 14) recently came out to us as transgender and her big milestone was getting pierced ears and choosing a new name this last weekend. And she will promote from eighth grade this year, go on the school sponsored trip to DC and NYC and then start high school in the fall! My third will be 13 this summer. He will be a teenager and I’ll be feeding THREE teenage kids! My fourth is 10.5 and is clearly entering puberty. Aside from some obvious physical changes happening for her, she’s also gotten really cranky lately! My fifth turns five in April and will start kindergarten this fall. And my youngest turns three next month and started play preschool/daycare a few months ago. Even my hubs is hitting a big milestone soon.... he’ll turn 40 in July! It’s been a really big year for us.
All this happening while I’m in my first year going back to school to get a second bachelor’s degree - this time in music. I want to go back to teaching but I want to shift to teach elementary school music. It’s a complicated story but I have a multiple subject teaching credential and used to teach kindergarten and I’ve done music in amateur situations my entire life. California hasn’t had elementary music teachers since the 90s and we JUST voted to re-fund it. Which means I could actually get a job doing this instead of just volunteering to do it for my kids classrooms. But I need a music degree in order for people to believe I’m qualified to do it. So I’m in the process of doing that.

I know those feelings! It gets easier.

Thank you! I am looking forward to doing the errands and chores without the kids tagging along, but also for the time to do things just for me :)
My oldest starts high school next year. Not ready!
