Weekly thread: Your kids' recent or soon-to-be milestones
Braces. My eldest has braces!
Hello everyone! I’m flying to Atlanta today to attend a social psychology conference (hoping to get some good ideas for this here newsletter!) so I may be a bit slow to respond today. But I’d like to hear about the milestones your kids have either recently reached or will soon reach (like maybe they’re going to sleepaway camp for the first time this summer).
This week, my 11-year-old’s big milestone is HE GOT BRACES. He’s been a real trooper about it, especially given that he’s one of the first in his grade to get them, but he would like everyone to know that his mouth hurts.
I always find milestones so bittersweet: Of course, they are wonderful and worth celebrating, but they are reminders that our kids are getting older. Please your kids’ milestones in the comments as well as your thoughts about them — whether those thoughts are happy or sad.
My granddaughter is six so she’s in that place where her teeth are falling out of her head. Her smile is a random bunch of holes and it’s amazing. I look forward to the next phase, where her two front teeth are too big for her face for a while.
Just registered my daughter (our one and only) for kinder this coming August! She’s crushing preK, is a leader and little social butterfly and is SO ready. I’m proud of her but also hoping her new big kid independence doesn’t mean I lose my best cuddle buddy when she moves up!
