Hello everyone! I’m flying to Atlanta today to attend a social psychology conference (hoping to get some good ideas for this here newsletter!) so I may be a bit slow to respond today. But I’d like to hear about the milestones your kids have either recently reached or will soon reach (like maybe they’re going to sleepaway camp for the first time this summer).
This week, my 11-year-old’s big milestone is HE GOT BRACES. He’s been a real trooper about it, especially given that he’s one of the first in his grade to get them, but he would like everyone to know that his mouth hurts.
I always find milestones so bittersweet: Of course, they are wonderful and worth celebrating, but they are reminders that our kids are getting older. Please your kids’ milestones in the comments as well as your thoughts about them — whether those thoughts are happy or sad.
A little ridiculous for a milestone, maybe, but my 3yo kid spent 30 minutes in the company of someone not directly related to him today. As I expected, he was totally fine and I was having heart palpitations.
My youngest just got accepted into pre-school and my oldest will be starting kindergarten in the fall, which means they will both be in school in the morning at the same time. I will be all by myself (for 2.5 hrs)! Excited about having some quiet time (which I have been dreaming about for a while now), but also a little scared to have reached this point. Eek!
