We have about ten days until Mother’s Day. I have a lot of feelings about the holiday that I won’t get into right now. Instead, today, I want to hear about what you’d actually really like this Mother’s Day, even if it’s not particularly realistic.
In my opinion, society’s expectations for Mother’s Day often make the day even more stressful for moms than normal Sundays — I mean, dragging small children to fancy brunches isn’t always a treat, you know? My kids typically have meltdowns on Mother’s Day because it’s not living up to THEIR expectations for what the day should look like, so that’s fun, too.
So… if you could have anything for Mother’s Day this year, what would it be? Yes, your wishes can be lofty (better gun laws, please) but please don’t hesitate to be self-indulgent, too. I personally would love some crumb coffee cake and a bit of time alone at a coffee shop to write some fiction (my new favorite hobby). Also, can someone please make sure my husband sees this, thanks.
How about you? What do you want this Mother’s Day? Share in the comments.
I want the holiday to disappear. But, if I must choose something, I want a massive and robust gun buyback program. People get paid, guns get melted, children get safer.
All I want is the whole day to myself. To not have to feed children, set up a full meal for others, host guests, and clean up after others.
