The brands, services and products you're obsessed with right now.
I am always the last person to learn about things. When there’s a meme exploding on the internet, or a new brand everyone loves, I am always the one saying, “Wait, what are you talking about?” I do want to follow new trends, I just… I don’t follow the social media accounts or read the magazines that talk about them, I guess. (Too busy reading scientific studies, probably.)
Today I want to know: What new products, brands or services are you obsessed with? I’ll share mine (and I swear, nobody’s paying me to say this). A few months ago, I complimented a friend on a beautiful spring coat hanging in her mud room, and she told me that she was renting it as part of a monthly clothing rental service called Nuuly. Basically, Nuuly works like this: You rent 6 clothing items, from brands like Anthropologie and Free People, for $88 a month, and you also have the option of buying any of the items at a discount once you’ve rented them.
I love shopping for new clothes and wearing new clothes, but I hate accumulating new clothes (perhaps because I have negative closet space), so this seemed super fun. Sure enough, I love it. I am now on my second month, and while not every item of clothing has worked for me, I’ve worn others many times (and even purchased one). They have plus sizes, too. An ice roller! My kids are always hurting themselves but hate keeping ice on it... so I bought an ice face roller on Amazon and they can roll the ice over the hurt without the spot getting too cold!
I'm in a "take better care of fewer things" mode these days. I started shopping second hand for my kiddo and have been loving it. We have a Kid to Kid location that is awesome. It's organized and not overwhelming like some places can be and I have found some SUPER cute things there. The other thing I'd say I'm obsessed with is the @gocleanco instagram account. They help a lot with the taking better care of things aspect. It's run by a snarky Canadian woman who has THE BEST cleaning tips and methods. Plus she gets in to the science of how things work which my cell and molecular biologist brain loves.
